I am a Muslim too & I know my arkaans of Islam but a certain Sheikh of Madina who gave a bayaan stating this.?

that the Nabi Muhammed (P.B.U.H) had made Tahajud Salah & it was Farz upon him.He had also mentioned that this was stated in Bukhari & Tirmidhi so I am only but enquiring on this statement as knowledge should be acquired from the cradle to the grave.This is new to me as for 50 years I have never heard a statement like this,I come from an educated islaamic family Algamdullillah which consists of 3 hafiz al quran & they too do not of this.
